HAMMERHEADS by Loreto Vila (Spain)

"I am an artist and marine biologist from Spain and most of my happiest memories have been underwater. I love everything about the Ocean world: the fish, the corals and how the sunrays shimmer through the surface. It is like going to a different world! Unfortunately, this world is in danger.

My meticulously detailed ink drawings explore the ocean biodiversity and beauty. Through my art I hope to convey the beauty and wonders of the ocean, as well as to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect it. I attempt to recreate the richness of the underwater world through ink and paper, using a dotwork technique inspired by the tattoo world. Sometimes I add geometric shapes to my designs in order to create movement and harmony, because in the Ocean everything is constantly moving and shifting."
